Armed suspect hospitalized after officers open fire in Pomona

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a man was shot and injured by police in Pomona.

The incident unfolded Sunday night after officers received a call about shots fired during a domestic disturbance at a home on Las Brisas Circle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say the suspect drove off and eventually caused a crash at the intersection of Holt and White avenues. The suspect did not exit the vehicle and officers opened fire some time after that.

Authorities initially said the man was shot after pointing a gun at officers.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No officers were hurt. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
