HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) -- A power outage may be to blame for a crash that severed a fire hydrant, sending water spewing into the air and flooding streets in Hawthorne.
Nearly 3,300 customers in the area lost power at about 10 p.m. Sunday. The collision occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of El Segundo and Hawthorne boulevards.
Three people were taken to a hospital, including two adults and one child.
Power was restored by Monday morning.
The driver was not under the influence and will not be charged.
