Forget same-day delivery: Just in time for Cyber Monday, online retail giant Amazon has revealed a new prototype for Amazon Prime Air delivery drones that could someday bring you your order in as little as half an hour.
In a new video staring British TV personality Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame, Amazon explains how something like a single soccer shoe could be delivered in time for the game using a drone.
Amazon said it's testing the drones, which will be able to carry up to five pounds, in multiple locations, including the United States.
The online retailer first introduced its concept of delivery drones to the world in 2013 with a demonstration video that's received more than 15 million views on YouTube.
Before you get too excited by the concept, know that the timeline of the drones' deployment is in limbo as the federal government makes decisions about drone regulations. One regulation proposed in February would require commercial drones to be kept in the eyesight of their operators.
"We will deploy when and where we have the regulatory support needed to safely realize our vision," Amazon wrote in a release.
