"Especially as teenagers, I mean, you're tempted to drink, you're tempted to do drugs, you're tempted to do stupid stuff," says Jonathan. "But you can't, you just can't do it if you want to be good in the long run. You just gotta be smart today and to be prepared for tomorrow."
In community service, school or athletics, Jonathan has a presence that is quickly noticed.
"He leads by example, he works hard in class and the other students definitely follow his lead," says George Jones, Jonathan's physical education teacher.
Jonathan says speaking to a roomful of students gives him a chance to reach out to a lot of people. But one student let him know his message was getting through.
"He said, 'Man, I'm just glad I took this class. I mean, I'm learning so much that I never knew before and it makes me think when I'm out on the streets,'" says Jonathan.
Hearing those words lets Jonathan know all the time and effort is paying off.
"It makes me feel great," says Jonathan. "I mean, just inspiring another student to do the right thing is a great thing, telling them to make the right choices."
Already doing so much to protect and serve his community, he is our Cool Kid, Jonathan Ganley.
