Maywood agrees to police reforms

CERRITOS, Calif. In April, State Attorney General Jerry Brown released a 30-page report that accused officers of widespread misconduct, including excessive use of force and arrests made without probable cause.

"It paves the way for real reform, enabling the Maywood Police Department to live up to its potential by truly serving and protecting," Brown said in a statement released Wednesday.

The new rules call for stronger oversight of the department by the city manager and improved procedures to hire and train officers.

Under the order, the city will be required to install video cameras in the police station and in police cruisers.
