Detectives are investigating and said it appears that the boy shot himself with a small caliber handgun.
The boy was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

RIALTO, Calif. Authorities said they were called to a home on the 1500 block of West Shamrock Avenue at around 10 a.m. Saturday.
