Town hall to discuss debris flow preparation

November 23, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
Local emergency officials are already preparing for the next rain storm because of fears it could trigger debris flows in local burn areas. After a short, powerful rainstorm hit earlier this month near the Station Fire burn area in La Canada Flintridge, mud and debris slid into streets and some homes.

Los Angeles city fire, police and engineering officials are scheduled to host a town hall meeting Monday night to talk about how they're preparing for the next time.

Information will be given out to assist residents living near the Sayre, Sessnon-Marek and Station fire areas in having a readiness and evacuation plan to help reduce the possibility of injury, property damage, or even death.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Olive Vista Middle School's gymnasium, located at 14600 Tyler Street in Sylmar.
