The bike burst into flames on impact and was destroyed.
Police say officer Herst is in stable condition and his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
No one else was hurt in the crash, which is now under investigation.
OC officer survives fiery motorcycle crash
BUENA PARK, Calif. Police say 28-year-old officer Ryan Herst was going south on Knott Avenue at San Bruno Drive Saturday evening, when his motorcycle collided with a Nissan Sentra apparently making a left turn.
