More than 200 of the world's top athletes are going to be competing this weekend in competitions such as skateboard, BMX, freestyle, Moto X and rally car.
The four-day games are taking place at the /*Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum*/ and other venues in the downtown area.
"We do a number of road trips and stuff like that, but events like this really showcase the sport and evolve with our sport," said Brian Kachinsky, a BMX rider.
"It's just a treat to be in L.A. and be out and doing our thing and showcasing it to the world," he said.
This is the eighth year in a row Los Angeles has hosted the /*X Games*/.
