Mom accused of smoking pot w/ kids in room

VICTORVILLE, Calif. Roche Lawanda Hope, 25, and her mother, Rosnell Edwards Hope, 55, were booked into the Victor Valley jail Thursday on suspicion of cruelty to a child.

Responding to the report of a disturbance, deputies came to an apartment complex in the 15500 block of Barranca Way Thursday and reported smelling a strong odor of /*marijuana*/ coming from an apartment.

According to investigators, deputies then entered the apartment and determined the odor was so strong it posed a safety risk to Roche Hope's five children, who range from 3 to 9 years old.

Officials said they found a small quantity of pot in the house.

Child Protective Services in /*San Bernardino County*/ now has custody of the children.
