Man sentenced to life for 2006 child murder

Jurors avoided handing the death penalty and sentenced a man to life in prison for killing a Moreno Valley boy in 2006.Gregory Lymuel, 22, was sentenced on Friday in Riverside County Superior Court.

Lymuel was convicted in October of killing 10-year-old Chris Fields two days before Christmas 2006 during a drive-by shooting at Iris Avenue and Kitching Street in Moreno Valley.

Police said Lymuel shot the boy in the head. Both Lymuel and the boy were sitting in cars that were sitting side by side behind a red traffic light.

Lymuel was convicted of murder and two counts of attempted murder with a special circumstance of killing during a drive-by shooting.
