Authorities said the accident started at North Westbourne Drive. One of the cars continued east on Santa Monica Boulevard, hitting a hydrant, shearing it off and sending water shooting up.
The car landed at the entrance of a parking structure.
One person was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and one other person suffered minor injuries.
