Sargent Shriver hospitalized in Maryland

BETHESDA, Md. Shriver was admitted at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda on Sunday. Hospital officials aren't commenting on Shriver's condition or why he was admitted.

The 95-year-old is the former director of the Peace Corps and was also the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 1972.

In 2003, Shriver announced he had Alzheimer's disease.

Shriver's wife and Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver died in 2009.
