March 20, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a family of four, including a 6-month-old baby, off the coast of Santa Barbara.

A sailboat carrying the family broke free from its mooring.

The boat was being battered by sea swells between 6 and 8 feet high and wind gusts of up to 40 knots.

A Coast Guard helicopter and two Coast Guard boats came to the rescue.

The family was safely transferred to a harbor patrol boat and brought ashore.

No injuries were reported.
