The pilot reported the light coming from the 11600 block of Arminta Avenue near Troost Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers went to the house and found the suspect, Brandon Hicks of Sun Valley, hiding in a garage.
The laser was recovered inside the garage during an investigation.
Hicks could face felony charges for shining a laser at an aircraft.
