Jerry Brown had surgery for cancerous growth

SACRAMENTO

The governor's office revealed that Brown had a slow-growing form of skin cancer on the right side of his nose.

Friday's surgery cleared out all of the cancerous cells, but as a result, Brown needed reconstructive surgery on his nose.

The 73-year-old, who has since returned home from the hospital, was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, which is considered to be the least dangerous form of skin cancer.
