Firefighters in Orange County seem to be gaining the upper hand on a 400-acre brushfire on the eastern edge of Brea.

The fire broke out about noon Thursday in the Carbon Canyon area. The blaze was 70 percent contained by nighttime.

Firefighters hope to have it completely surrounded by Friday morning.

No structures have been damaged, and no homes have been ordered to evacuate.

But at one point, the fire threatened cellphone towers and radio transmitters on top of a hill.
