2 hurt in Perris Valley Airport plane crash

PERRIS, Calif.

A twin-engine Beechcraft Duchess with tail number N6718X went down shortly before 8:30 a.m. while it was taking off near the skydiving facility of the airport. It was unknown why the plane went down.

The aircraft ended up on its belly in a field about a quarter-mile southwest of the airport.

Four people were involved in the incident but only two people were transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to fire department officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the crash.

The identities of those involved were not released.
