Crews are expected to begin fogging an El Monte neighborhood Friday in hopes of killing off an aggressive, disease-carrying mosquito.

The Asian tiger mosquito was discovered last week in the 11000 block of Dodson Street.

It has distinctive black and white markings and is active during daylight hours, as well as at dusk and dawn.

The Asian tiger mosquito can spread diseases like yellow and dengue fevers.

Authorities are going door to door in the affected area to alert residents and determine how far the infestation has spread.
