Wombat joeys caught on tape taking 1st steps

QUEENSLAND, Australia

The video, shot by Queensland Parks and Wildlife, shows the wombat coming out of its burrow with its mother for the very first time. His steps are slightly wobbly.

Authorities are happy that their efforts to save the species are working.

Wombat joeys, as the babies are called, spend the first 12 months of their lives protected inside the burrow.
