Paraglider rescued in Ventura after wind-driven crash

VENTURA, Calif.

Emergency crews received a report of the crash at about 2 p.m. Friday. Responding personnel found that the paraglider crashed due to wind and turbulence.

Ventura fire officials said the 33-year-old paraglider sustained significant injuries to his back and face.

An air squad with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department rescued the man by a hoist-lift operation.

The paraglider was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.
