Police were tipped off to Grant Lind after they say he used a fraudulent check at a check-cashing business.
Detectives say they found more fake checks, forged money orders and stolen personal information from people in Simi Valley and Los Angeles County.
Investigators think Lind was getting that information from mailboxes and trash cans.
