At a meeting that lasted into Tuesday's early morning hours, Pasadena city leaders approved amending its current ordinance covering the stadium to allow NFL games to be played there. A second vote, scheduled for Dec. 3, is needed to finalize the ordinance change.
The Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance currently restricts Rose Bowl events attended by 20,000 people or more to 12 per year.
The amendment would allow, in addition to the existing Rose Bowl schedule, a team to play up to 13 NFL games per year for up to five years while a permanent stadium is built elsewhere.
