Rossmoor home targeted in possible hate crime

ROSSMOOR, Calif.

A neighborhood watch group dispatched a community warning message via email, saying that the bottles were left on a resident's lawn on Mainway Drive at cross streets Silver Fox and Foster roads in Rossmoor.

The Rossmoor Predator Management Team (RPMT) said Orange County sheriff's deputies were treating the substance as a harmful acid and that they are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

RPMT said deputies had blocked off Mainway Drive to investigate the issue. In a follow-up message to group members Sunday morning, RPMT said the resident at the home heard a loud noise at the front of her house at about 7:30 a.m. When she went outside, she found a busted bottle and additional bottles on her lawn, including one hanging from her tree. She did not know what the bottles contained.

The watch group asked area residents to check any surveillance footage to track down the culprits.
