A family member says Robert Preece will speak outside AT&T Park before Sunday's game between the Giants and the San Diego Padres. Preece believes someone may have recorded the melee with mobile phones, according to Preece's sister Jill Preece Haro.
The man suspected in the stabbing, 21 year-old Michael Montgomery of Lodi, was released from jail Friday night but could be re-arrested.
The victim, 24-year-old Jonathan Denver, was stabbed to death after attending Wednesdays' game with his brother, father and two others to celebrate his father's 49th birthday.
The group, many wearing Dodger garb, left the park after the 8th inning for a nearby bar. At some point, they got into a shouting match over the Dodgers with Montgomery and a few friends who were bar-hopping in the trendy South of Market area. At least one was wearing a Giants cap.
Montgomery's father told the Lodi News-Sentinel that his son was acting in self-defense after his group of friends was "jumped" by the group of Dodger fans, and that he stabbed Denver after Denver struck his son in the head with a chair.
San Francisco's district attorney says, at this point, there is not enough evidence to charge Montgomery.
A second suspect was questioned and released by police Friday. Two others were being sought.
