Charges against Shamalar Fields, 36, of Los Angeles, were filed Wednesday. Police say the incident happened near Atlantic Avenue and 68th Street as the victim was walking at about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.
The victim told police that Fields drove up and solicited them for a sex act. A witness called for help at the victim's request, and Fields was arrested nearby, police said.
Fields has been charged with one misdemeanor count of annoying a child. Police say he has been released from custody on bond and is awaiting his next court appearance. Fields is a public safety officer in Exposition Park, according to police.
