The incident occurred near 14th Street and South Union Avenue around 8:20 p.m.
Rampart officers responded to several calls of shots fired and found a shooting victim. Police say Atilio Benavides Anaya, 39, was shot several times and died at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting does not appear to be gang-related. The victim was not a gang member.
