The crash happened near Meyer Road and Imperial Highway. Paramedics were called to the scene to treat the deputy, who was trapped in the vehicle. The deputy is in stable condition.
The chase suspect, who appeared to be driving a silver compact car, fled on-foot and broke into an apartment near Coteau Drive and Leffingwell Road in nearby south Whittier.
Deputies tracked down the suspect and arrested him inside the apartment.
