Brandi fell in love with the dress after seeing Oprah wearing it on the cover of Essence magazine. So, Brandi tweeted at Oprah and cheekily asked her for the dress writing, "You look beautiful in that essence cover pic. WOW. CAN I please have that dress? Cuz I know u won't wear again lol luv u."
Winfrey donned the dress on Essence's March cover that featured "The Butler" star posing alongside Forest Whitaker, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B. Jordan.
To Brandi's surprise, the former talk-show queen tweeted back at her, "You're right I won't wear ever again contact my asst. and show her this tweet."
After a few failed attempts at reaching someone on Winfrey's team, Brandi was contacted by one of Winfrey's assistants, Maya Watson, who coordinated with Brandi to send her the Brian Rennie for Basler gown.
Brandi received the dress on Feb. 21, exactly one week after she first tweeted Winfrey. Brandi tweeted, "THANK YOU! Recv beautiful dress. Plan to wear at my wedding when I find a groom lol but will twt pic wearing it soon. Luv u to life!"
