LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Movie and comic book fans have the chance to see the ultimate superhero showdown with the new film, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Ben Affleck is the latest actor to tackle the role of Batman.
When it was first announced he'd play the Caped Crusader, some fans were vocal about their displeasure. Eventually, it all blew over and the two-time Oscar winner is proud to be part of the character's legacy.
"I take it as par for the course now," Affleck said. "These movies engender a lot of fan response. Some is gonna be good, some is not always gonna be good."
Henry Cavill is back for his second turn in a superhero uniform. This time around, he feels we're learning Superman is very much a work in progress.
"This is not the finished product of Superman. This is Superman going through his growing pains," Cavill said. "This is Superman learning how to be a superhero, learning how to become that paragon of hope and justice and example which we see in the comic books."
As the title suggests, we do see Batman versus Superman in this film. The epic fight scene was not easy to shoot, but both actors were up for the challenge.
"Getting my body in shape, as much as it was painful, it was still really enjoyable," said Cavill. "And doing the fight scenes, as much as they may be grueling and over a very long period of time, it's awesome to be in the Batman versus Superman fight."
"We had enormous great help in making us look good in that fight sequence," said Affleck. "I'm really proud of it and it's the result of a lot of people's hard work."
"Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters Friday.
