BROOKLYN, New York -- Struggling to figure out what to wear back to the office? Same. After more than two years of leggings, no shoes and "zoom tops," the thought of putting heels and business-appropriate attire on is daunting.
It's time for a new work wardrobe that's comfortable yet stylish and professional.
So, I turned to my friends at Rent The Runway to get a sense of what's trending for the summer months.
Blaire Walsh, Style Director at Rent The Runway broke it all down.
"The core trends we're seeing in the office environment are colored suiting, trench dresses, printed midi skirts, the new wrap dress and re-invented floral top," said Walsh.
Another trend she's seeing is colored heels and denim making a comeback for the office, specifically wide-leg, high-waist tailored jeans.
"Renting is a sustainable and fashionable way to get dressed these days," said Walsh. "Women have access to the ultimate designer closet with Rent the Runway and you don't have to commit to that fashionable piece." And I completely agree.
Rent The Runway is the perfect way to try out the latest trend, show off an exclusive designer piece (from a list of hundreds of designers) or even try a show-stopping bold color all at a fair price point (check out their plan options).
However, you still need a few core pieces in your closet, so here's a list to get your work wardrobe started.
This sleeveless one will keep you cool and comfortable while still looking polished and professional. The belt helps synch your waist for a flattering look and it even has pockets!
Versatile for stepping up any outfit. This single-breasted one is perfect to throw over a dress or pair with jeans!
No more stacking or de-tangling... this necklace combines dainty and bold in one statement necklace to complete any outfit!
4. 90's-style high-waist, wide-leg tailored jeans
They've made a comeback and seem to be universally flattering especially with a pinched waist look. They're a darker blue to hold on to a more professional look in the office. Pro-tip: stay away from ripped jeans and light-wash looks.
5. A no-nonsense pair of black jeans
Turn a sleeveless top and sandal heels into a cool, comfortable office look. This slim wide-leg pair will also come in handy as you transition into the cooler months.
These braided heeled sandals are sleek, stylish and most importantly, comfortable with a block heel. Go for a fun pop of color like this lavender pair or check out their variety of neutral options.
7. A handbag that doubles as an accessory
This mini pouch has a chain strap that looks like a bracelet. When you're commuting there's a cross-body strap to keep your hands free for coffee!
8. White button down long sleeve shirt
Does it get more classic? This satin material makes it easy to tuck or tie and pair with a pant or skirt.
