Thieves caught on camera stealing mail in Hollywood sought

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The search was on for a pair of thieves caught on camera stealing mail from an apartment complex in Hollywood.

Surveillance video from the building, on the corner of Hawthorne Avenue and Orange Street, shows suspects getting past the call box and opening mailboxes at about 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

A tenant saw the suspects stuffing envelopes into a bag and told the building manager, who called police. Before officers got there, however, another tenant chased after them.

The tenant was able to grab the bag of mail from the suspects before they got away.

Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division were handling the investigation.
