'Maleficent' movie review - Is it magical?
'Maleficent' is set to cast a spell at the box office this weekend. So does Angelina Jolie nail her mesmerizing role?

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- "Maleficent" tells the story of the villainess who dared put a sleeping curse on a baby princess. We know that story from the animated classic, "Sleeping Beauty." But in this movie, we learn what drove "Maleficent" to that point.[br /][br /]Angelina Jolie, in the title role, is a wonder. She is mesmerizing to watch as this larger-than-life figure, and part of you knows she's having just as much fun playing the role as you're having watching her.[br /][br /]The movie is also a visual feast, thanks, in part, to Director Robert Stromberg. This is his first time directing, but he has two Oscars for his art direction on both "Avatar" and "Alice In Wonderful."[br /][br /]He knows what he needs to create a different world, and he does that beautifully here. [br /][br /]The film also needed a sweet innocence for Princess Aurora, aka "Sleeping Beauty," and the filmmakers clearly found that with Elle Fanning.[br /][br /]Kids may be a little afraid at some of the scary stuff, but I think they'll get over it and just dive in as the movie plays out.[br /][br /]"Maleficent" was made with kids in mind, but it's also for, as they say, kids of all ages. I enjoyed every minute of it.[/i][br /][br /][br /]
