OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Cleanup crews spent more than eight hours cleaning up a marijuana-extraction laboratory in an Oxnard hotel room after the occupant was arrested Wednesday.

Oxnard Police received a report of suspicious circumstances from a Residence Inn hotel location at 2101 Vineyard Avenue at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Hotel staff directed officers to one of the hotel rooms. Officers found an active marijuana extraction lab. The marijuana extraction process, which results in concentrated THC known as "honey," requires chemicals that are extremely flammable and have caused explosions.

The renter of the room was identified as 24-year-old Julian Berman. Berman was arrested for the manufacturing of marijuana extract and booked at Ventura County Jail.

Police requested a special laboratory team from the California Department of Justice to clean the room and dispose of the chemicals. The cleanup took more than eight hours, according to police.
