New Coast Guard fast-response ship arrives for duty in San Pedro

SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The first of four new Coast Guard cutters arrived this weekend in Southern California

The 154-foot Forrest Rednour is the newest class of fast-response ships for the U.S. Coast Guard base in San Pedro and Long Beach.

Authorities will use the ships for various needs, including law enforcement and rescue operations.

When the other three cutters arrive, they will be based in Southern California for at least 12 months.
