Coyote gets stuck on Huntington Beach wall
A Huntington Beach couple woke up and found a coyote stuck in the backyard on an 8-foot wall on Monday.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A Huntington Beach couple woke up and found a coyote stuck in the backyard on an 8-foot wall on Monday. The coyote stood in the same spot for about three to four hours before escaping.

The incident happened in the 7000 block of Nestucca Court. Jeffrey Vuong says his wife went out to the backyard and was tending to her roses around 6:30 a.m. when she looked up and realized a coyote was looking back at her. She dropped everything and ran back inside.

"He just stood there, so tired, like a frozen animal," Vuong said. "I feel sorry for him because he must be very thirsty and hungry."

The homeowner called Orange County Animal Control. Around 9:30 a.m., the coyote began to move on the wall.

An animal control officer responded and determined that the coyote did not look injured. He then drove to the other side of the fence to try to scare the coyote off the wall.

Just before 10 a.m., the coyote jumped off the wall and ran off.

No one was injured in the incident. Residents in the area were advised to keep small pets inside as a precaution.
