GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County firefighters in Gardena are looking for the owners of a large fuzzy black and white speckled rabbit that was brought to the station Monday morning.

A family found the spotted rabbit in the middle of the street, and firefighters believe the rabbit is someone's pet that may have escaped.

But no one has shown up to claim their fluffy friend. Firefighter Heidi Manzares has decided to take the rabbit home for the time being.

"It's extremely mellow, docile, playful, likes to be petted, liked to eat spinach and cilantro. It's a little curious, but really well behaved. Really sweet," Manzares said.

If no one claims the rabbit soon, she'll have to turn it over to animal control.
