WEST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A female driver was detained at the end of a slow-speed police chase that began in West Los Angeles and ended in Beverly Hills Tuesday afternoon.

The female was driving a black Ford sport-utility vehicle. The driver was suspected of driving under the influence, or may have a medical issue. An ambulance was requested at the scene after the woman was detained. The female was described as a woman in her 50s.

The slow-speed chase began in the area of Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards. The chase went eastbound on Wilshire before the driver stopped just east of La Cienega.

At least four LAPD patrol cars and a police motorcycle were monitoring the situation as the female remained in the stopped vehicle.

At least nine officers approached the vehicle on foot from both sides with guns drawn. Four officers opened the driver's-side door, pulled the woman from the vehicle and handcuffed her at approximately 1:30 p.m.
