Special Olympian golfer aims to add gold medal to collection

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Golfers from all around the world will be hitting the greens in Griffith Park for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games next weekend.

Among them will be Greg Kozlowski from Orange County, who is one of 38 Southern California athletes selected to represent Team USA. About 7,000 athletes from around the world will compete in more than 25 sports.

Although Kozlowski has been competing in Special Olympics events for the past 13 years, he knows the important of practice.

"You don't know how it's going to end up. You can wish to get the medal, but someone can beat you to it, because they may play better than you," Kozlowski said.

"You may have a good game the first day. You may have a bad game the second day. Everybody does, even the pros do," Kozlowski said.

Kozlowski already has 25 medals from past Special Olympic events, but he really wants to add a World Games gold medal to his collection.

"I do want to do it, but I'm not going to say I'm going to win a medal and then don't win a medal and put myself down. I'm just going to go out there and have fun and keep an open mind," Kozlowski said.

All the Special Olympics World Games sporting events are free and open to the public.
