SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Tempers flared as community members expressed their frustration after a teenager was shot and killed by sheriff's deputies in Westmont.

"I'm sick and tired over hearing this term - deputy-involved shooting," one man said.

It was during a community meeting with the Sheriff Civilian Oversight Committee Wednesday night. Residents who showed up were angry over the death of 16-year-old Anthony Webber. His brother also spoke during the meeting.

"My little brother was murdered and this is not a good time," he said.

It happened Sunday after authorities received a report of a young man pointing a handgun at a motorist. The shooting occurred when the teenager turned toward authorities during a chase. Deputies said they saw a weapon, but still haven't recovered one since the shooting.

They said there was a crowd of people at the scene of the shooting and believe someone may have taken the gun from Webber's body.

But people in the community question that story.

"C'mon now? And then you can't find a gun?" another man said.

After a while, people in the audience started screaming and jumping on stage. That's when the meeting came to a quick end.

"We wanted a substantive dialogue to come to get answers by which this commission was created. (It's meant) to be a bridge, a liaison for the community, who are our stakeholders. Unfortunately, it didn't go as planned tonight," said Pastor Xavier Thompson, who is on the oversight commission.

Authorities said there is an investigation on the deputy-involved shooting and that the district attorney's office will determine if it was justified.
