LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Several Los Angeles-area area students are lacing up ice skates this summer as part of a program that exposes the sport to young children and teens who may not have thought about setting foot in a rink - and one woman is making it all possible.

"For me, when I learned how to ice skate, it was a lot about confidence, building your confidence and all of the life lessons that you learn though ice skating," said Ashleigh Ellis, the founder and CEO of Unity Ice Academy. "That's really what I want to give back to the community."
