Debris cleared from fatal plane crash

CORONA (KABC) Investigators don't know why the two planes hit Sunday about 3:30 in the afternoon. Inspectors are looking into whether the sun may have played a role. Veteran pilots say the sun can cause visibility problems.

The four people in the two planes were killed, along with one person on the ground.

Family members are trying to deal with their loss.

"He was really special. Everyone who meets him remembers him. He was just one of those people who had a lot going for him, meant a lot to everyone who knew him," said the victim's sister, Emily Guzman.

The man who died on the ground, 58-year-old Earl Smiddy, was crushed at his desk after debris came crashing through the roof of a car dealership.
