Palm Springs Walk of Stars gets facelift

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. All of the stars will be repainted in downtown Palm Springs and six stars -- those of Dinah Shore, Patricia Carr-Bosley, Col. Tom Parker, John Conte, Susan Hart and Ruth Licata -- will be replaced completely, said Robert Alexander, president of the Walk of Stars.

A total of 317 stars are located in downtown along Palm Canyon Drive, Tahquitz Canyon Way and Museum Drive, Alexander said.

"We honor show-business celebrities, sports stars, authors, publishers, pioneers, civic leaders, humanitarians and Congressional Medal of Honor awardees," Alexander said, noting that most of the honorees contributed in some way to the greater Palm Springs area.
