Newhall Pass fire knocked down quickly

LOS ANGELES The fire broke out in Santa Clarita near the 5 Freeway at Calgrove Boulevard at 9:43 p.m.

Some downed power lines sparked the fire, which spread to nearby brush.

Crews using hand lines and shovels knocked it down quickly. It scorched just over two acres.

The 5 was shut down as crews battled the flames, but the freeway has since reopened.
