Budget could cut school year for some

LOS ANGELES Whittier School district and Los Nietos have already decided to drop a week from the academic calendar.

Whittier Union High School District is considering taking four days off.

School district officials hope to minimize the impact on students by removing days off the school calendar from the end of the school year and extending Thanksgiving and winter breaks.
