LOS ANGELES A volunteer group headed by an amateur historian claims the debris it located is part of the Lockheed-Martin T-33A that vanished on Oct. 15, 1955 shortly after take off from the Los Angeles International Airport. The jet, carrying two crewmen, was on a training mission.
Military officials say that preliminarily, it appears the claims being made by the volunteer group are correct but the wreckage still needs to be recovered and analyzed.
