Community builds home for Lupe

In the past month, Lupe Ramos lost her 13 year old son, her brother and her home. Now, 92.5 Kiss FM and community members are stepping in and building the family a home free of charge.

Jackie Frisch, Extreme Makeover recipient, says, "We can't take away the pain honey, but we can sure try to give your babies a future. So Lupe, these people right here are going to build you a house." A new home is just the beginning for Lupe Ramos, a single mother of two who's struggling to recover from tragedy striking not once, but twice. On September 30, Ramos lost her son and brother in a car accident, then two weeks ago a vacant house caught fire and spread to her own leaving the family with no place to go.

The community started up Love-For-Lupe, a website to collect donations for the family. Now 92.5, a law firm, and local contractors are asking everyone to pitch in to build a new home, just like they did last August for the Frisch family. Jackie and Aaron Frisch are part of the dozens stepping in to make sure this family has a home for the holidays.

And after losing everything, Ramos is grateful that Toledo is paying it forward. "If somebody goes through something like this there are people out there that will put their heart into it and will help people in need, support, and love," says mayor elect Mike Bell.

The home is still in the planning stages and they are looking for local contractors to donate their skills and building supplies. If you are able to help log on to LoveForLupe.com, or you can stop by a fundraiser for the Ramos family Tuesday, November 17 at the Blarney starting at 8.
