Port Hueneme considers adding 'Beach' to name

PORT HUENEME, Calif. The city council is considering changing the name of Port Hueneme to "Hueneme Beach."

The mayor tells the Ventura County Star the name reflects the city's biggest asset, its beach.

The paper estimates if the plan passes, it would cost between $115,0000 to $537,000 to change the city's name on the seal, signs, stationery and other items.
