OC plane crash victims died by drowning

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. A single-engine Beechcraft was headed from Calexico to Torrance Sunday when it landed upside down in Newport Harbor.

Pilot Charles Chambers and his friends Russell Urban and Sean Kelley were all trapped inside.

Police tried to cut them out of their seatbelts before the plane submerged but it was too late.

Moments before the crash Chambers had reported a fuel problem with the aircraft.
