Armed teenage intruder shot by OC police

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. Fountain Valley Police were called to an apartment complex on the 9600 block of El Rey Avenue at about 10:30 a.m., where they say a 17-year-old boy armed with a gun had forced his way into an apartment.

The resident was able to get away and called police.

Officers said the suspect came outside with a rifle and fired several rounds, ignoring the officers' command to drop the weapon. Officers returned fire, hitting the teen several times.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive.

No officers were hurt in the incident.
